Our Work
Project 1: Geometry and Form: Architectural Design Elements and Principles - Form transformation
In a workshop-based explorative studio, the design project introduces basic understanding of design concepts, processes, and methodologies in generating ideas, creating design, and translating it into form. Our group consisted of the 6 of us, namely Chai Yan Bin, Cameron Lee, Gerald Kho, Ashley Yap, Kelvin Yong and I.
01
Design Intention
Our aim was to express direction, movement, and growth, and bring about unity to our designs. We chose points and lines as our main focus as the direction, weight, and characters of the line can convey different states of emotions and can evoke various reactions in a design.
02
Design process development & sketches
During the project, we explored different approaches towards bringing out the 3 dimensional forms of the tattoos and at the same time ensuring that the forms adheres to the design principals and design elements.
03
Models
After creating the tattoos, we worked on replicating the plan view of the selected tattoo to create a built up model and proceeded with more variety of models based on the extracted design elements and principles.
04
Final presentation
In conclusion, we were able to achieve a flow of direction, movement, and balance through our models. Individually, the models “Futuristic”, “Spiral”, and “Chaos” each express a type of reaction but as they are placed together the effect combines and creates a sense of balance between each cohesive emotion hence our title “Symphony”

Reflection
From this project, I've learnt how to communicate with my team members more efficiently and ensuring that everyone is on the right track. Moreover, I've also grasped the significance of design principles and elements in creating a well-rounded composition.
